What are your beliefs on the second coming of Jesus Christ?
Some believe that when Jesus returns the 2nd time it will be to set up an earthly kingdom on earth. They believe the head quarters will be in Jerusalem. Jesus said in John 18:36 "My kingdom is not of this world. But according to the Bible Jesus will not set foot upon this earth again. Matthew 25:32-46 says when comes back it will be to judge the world. There will be a great separation. This separation will be final and eternal. 2nd Thessalonians 1 :8 tells us that he will come with his angels in flaming fire to take vengenance on them that know not God and those who obey not the gospel of Jesus Christ. When Jesus returns John 5: 28-29 reveals to us that there will be a general resurrection not 2 resurrections. 1st Thessalonians 4:13-18 tells us he will meet us in the air and those who have lived a righteous life will be with him forever. John 14:1-4 tells us Jesus has prepared a mansion for us in heaven. Any other questions just let me know. Back to the Top
Will the new earth (heaven) be similar to the one we are living on now?
Good question. The religious world has a number of opinions on this subject. There are those who believe that the Lord will only burn up the outer crust of the earth and then, we will live here for eternity. Others believe that this earth will be dissolved (2 Peter 3:10-13) and that the Lord has prepared a new heaven and earth (John 14:1-6; 2 Peter 3:13). Why would the Lord describe the new heavens and new earth in figures that we are familiar with? (examples: a city, walls, gates, rivers, street, tree of life, leaves, fruit, foundations, etc., Revelation 21-22). If you were trying to explain to a baby in the womb what this world is like, how would you do it? The Lord used things that we are familiar with to explain a spiritual place, so new and so different, that there will be no tears, death, sorrow, or pain. There is nothing in this world like that. It is a new heaven and earth, a new place to dwell with God intimately (Revelation 21:3; 22:3-4). It will be new, different, far better than any heaven on earth. Thanks for your question.
